Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Porcelain Tech Studio collects on this website, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do about it. Porcelain Tech Studio is a bilingual US–China digital product studio, and this site is operated from the United States.

The short version: the only personal information we ask you for is what you type into the enquiry form. We do not sell it.

What the enquiry form collects

Three fields are required:

  • Name — so we know who we are replying to.
  • Email — so we can reply. Unless you give us another way to reach you, this is the only one we have.
  • Message — your description of what you want built.

Four fields are optional. They exist so our first reply can be useful instead of a list of questions:

  • Phone or WeChat, if you would rather we reach you there
  • Project type — website, app, WeChat Mini Program, UI/UX, or other
  • Budget range
  • Expected timeline

Two things are recorded automatically with each submission:

  • The language of the page you submitted from (English, Chinese, or Spanish), so we reply in the language you were reading.
  • The page the enquiry came from — the contact page or the pricing page, for example — so we can tell which parts of the site actually help people.

The form also contains a hidden field that a person never sees and never fills in. Automated bots do fill it in, and submissions that touch it are marked as spam.

Where your enquiry goes

Submissions are written to a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon in the United States. That database is the system of record: it is where your enquiry lives and where our team reads and follows up on it.

We also send email through Resend — a notification to our team and an acknowledgement to you. Email is only a notification channel. If a message fails to send, your enquiry is still stored and we still see it.

Along with your enquiry we keep our own working notes on the conversation: a status such as "contacted" or "in discussion", the dates it changed, and any internal notes the team adds while following up.

IP addresses

We never store your raw IP address. When you submit the form, your IP is combined with a secret salt and hashed with SHA-256, and only that hash is stored. It lets us count recent submissions from the same source so we can block flooding and rate-limit abuse. It cannot be reversed back into your IP address.

Analytics and error monitoring

We use PostHog for product analytics: page views, navigation paths, and events such as an enquiry being submitted, broken down by page language and source page. It tells us how the site is being used, not who you are.

We use Sentry for error monitoring. When something breaks, Sentry receives the technical detail of the failure — the error itself, the page, and browser and request information — so we can fix it.

We do not sell analytics data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Cookies

Two cookies, both functional:

  • NEXT_LOCALE — remembers whether you chose English, Chinese, or Spanish so the site stays in that language.
  • An admin session cookie — issued only when a Porcelain Tech Studio staff member signs in to our internal dashboard. Ordinary visitors never receive it.

There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies on this site.

How long we keep enquiries

We keep an enquiry while there is a live reason to: an open conversation, an active project, or an ongoing client relationship. We review what is stored once a year and delete what is no longer needed. Submissions marked as spam are deleted at that review.

Asking us to delete your data

Email contact@porcelaintech.studio from the address you used and ask. We will delete your enquiry and the follow-up notes attached to it, and confirm when it is done. You can also ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.

Who else can see it

Our own team, and the service providers named above: Neon (database), Resend (email), PostHog (analytics), Sentry (error monitoring), and Vercel (hosting). Each of them handles this data on our behalf. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with anyone else.

The site runs over HTTPS. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it.

About this policy

This is a plain description of how the site actually works, written by the people who built it. It is not legal advice and it is not a substitute for a policy reviewed by a qualified lawyer. Porcelain Tech Studio should have counsel review this page before launch — particularly for US state privacy laws and for visitors outside the United States.

If the site changes what it collects, we will update this page and the date at the top.
